Ouachita Multi-Purpose Community Action Program (OMCAP, Inc) announces the availability of federal funds to assist eligible low-income households with energy costs through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

LIHEAP is a federally funded program designed to help eligible households pay a portion of their home energy bills. Assistance is provided directly to the utility company on behalf of the household.
Funds are limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until exhausted.
Eligible households may receive one LIHEAP benefit per season, based on program guidelines:
Heating Assistance:
November 15 – March 15
Cooling Assistance:
April 1 – September 30
Crisis Assistance:
October 1 – September 30
Available to income-eligible households who:
Have received a disconnect notice or had service terminated, and
Have not received crisis assistance within the past 12 months
An eligible household is one whose total household income is at or below 60% of the State Median Income, as outlined below.

Applicants must provide all required documents at the time of application:
Social Security cards for all household members
Proof of income for all household members
Current utility bill(s):
Entergy
Atmos Energy (if applicable)
Valid photo ID for applicant and all household members 18 years and older
Current lease agreement
Utility allowance verification
Current printout for:
SNAP (Food Stamps)
Child Support
FITAP (if applicable)

📌 Households reporting ZERO income must submit additional verification.
All information provided is subject to verification.
Intentional misrepresentation may result in criminal prosecution of the applicant and anyone assisting in the misrepresentation.
