AVAILABILITY OF LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE FUNDS 

The OUACHITA MULTI-PURPOSE COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM, INC. announces the availability of an allocation of funds dedicated to assist eligible low-income households with their energy payments through the LOW-INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LIHEAP). 

An eligible household is one whose total income is at or below the levels listed in the table below. 

Income eligible applicants may only receive one LIHEAP benefit each season: Heating (November 15 – March 15); Cooling (April 1 – September 30). 

Income eligible applicants who have received a DISCONNECT NOTICE and who have not received assistance for a DISCONNECT NOTICE in the prior 12-months may apply for Crisis (October 1 – September 30).

Applicants must provide, at a minimum, the following documentation at the time the application is taken: 

(1) Copies of each household member’s social security card,
(2) Proof of income of all household members,
(3) a copy of an Entergy and Atmos bill if applicable (must be current bill),
(4) a valid photo I.D. of the applicant and household members 18yrs and older,
(5) a current lease agreement,
(6) utility allowance verification, and
(7) current food stamp, child support, and/or FITAP printout.

If it is determined additional documentation is required the applicant will be notified at the time of application. Households reporting ZERO INCOME must provide additional documentation. All information provided is subject to verification. Intentional misrepresentation of information may result in criminal prosecution of the applicant and anyone assisting in the misrepresentation.

All applications are taken; with appointments; on a first come, first served basis. If you have a DISCONNECT NOTICE or your service has been terminated (CRISIS), you may call 318-322-7151 to schedule an appointment. If you do not have a DISCONNECT NOTICE and your service is active (NON-CRISIS), you may call 318-322-7151 as well.

We will begin scheduling Crisis and Non-Crisis Heating appointments on Tuesday, November 15, 2022). These appointment lists are conditional, based on available funds; therefore, there is no guarantee you will be given an appointment to complete an application. We serve customers beginning at 8:00 A.M. Please note, that in all services from LIHEAP, it is “first come, first serve” until the funds are distributed.

These are 100% federal funds. Non-governmental sources finance 0% of these funds.
